The first person in a long time to put Gunnar on his ass in the ring. Gunnar proceeded to latch on to him, finding purpose in the mercenary work he did alongside the Au Ra. Eventually, after a lot of butting heads and suplexes, they fell in love.

A former lover, Vain still holds a place in Gunnar's heart. He doesn't think he could ever separate from the Xaela; the bond they forged is strong.

Gunnar absconded Kildre into his crew after a series of unfortunate events. They've remained thick as thieves ever since, and if Gunnar ever managed to get his hands on another vessel, he'd of course be his first mate once more.

A package deal with Kildre, this ethereal being has healed many of Gunnar's wounds with only minor complaint. He still isn't quite sure what she is and he doesn't feel the need to ask.

They kind of don't like each other. At all. But they get along because Vain would get upset otherwise.

  • Yes, that's fur. Gunnar is covered in silky-soft velveteen fuzz. He can thank genetics and his high testosterone level for that. (The fur has made him slippery prey, allowing him to get out of some sticky situations.)

  • Gunnar taught himself Common at sea. He still has trouble reading and pronouncing certain words. He maintains his Vieran accent and is still fluent in The Old Tongue.

  • Gunnar made himself popular in The Bloodsands by fighting people twice his size. He loves to pick fights with those larger than him and has developed a skill for bringing them to their knees, or slinging them onto their backs. He maintains this propensity even in retirement.

  • While collared by his husband, he is unable to wear a collar proper due to immense discomfort with having any restraint around his neck. As such, he wears a locked Cuban chain bracelet, the key to which only Roxxane possesses. He also has grown to enjoy wearing a gold choke chain, further symbolizing their bond. He refuses to take it off.

  • Gunnar recently developed the need to wear corrective lenses; during his farewell bout in Ul'Dah, he got hit in the head so hard that it affected his vision. Of course the last time he fights for money he becomes impaired.
